Esther Dyson, (Strategic Advisor), EDventures
Esther is an acknowledged luminary in the online/information technology industry and the emerging information technology markets of Central and Eastern Europe. She is editor of Release 1.0, hosts the annual PC Forum conference and as an angel investor recently participated in the sale of Flickr to Yahoo!. She sits on the boards of many companies including WPP, EVDB, Meetup.com, NewspaperDirect (Canada), CV-Online (Hungary), Yandex (Russia). Esther is a trustee of the National Endowment for Democracy, Eurasia Foundation and Electronic Frontier Foundation. From 1998 to 2000 she was a founding chairman of ICANN (the organization responsible for overseeing the Internet's Domain Name System).
Esther was one of the first technology and media investors in Poland through her venture fund EDventure Ventures, which was dedicated to active investment in software and information start-ups in Central and Eastern Europe. Its investments included New World Publishing (publisher of the Budapest, Warsaw and Prague Business Journals); Poland Online, an Internet based information services company recently sold to Poland's Softbank.
Wojtek Uzdelewicz, Managing Director, Duquesne Capital Management
Wojtek manages a $500M High-Tech fund at Duquesne Capital. Between 2000 and 2005 Wojtek was a Senior Managing Director of Equity Research at Bear Sterns, covering telecom equipment sector. Prior to Bear Sterns, Wojtek was an analyst with SG Cowen in Boston. For a number of years he was a top-ranked equity analyst by the Wall Street Journal and Institutional Investor magazine. He is an investor in a number of ventures in Poland.
Richard Stokvis, Partner, Europa Partners
Richard is trained as a medical doctor at the Leiden University and has twenty years experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech and/or life sciences industry where he held senior positions in General Management, international marketing/product management, project management, business development, M&A and R&D with Merck Sharp & Dohme (Pepcid) and Novartis, Basle, where he served as the project leader for the successful clinical development, international marketing and global launch of Lescol, a cholesterol lowering drug.
F. Mark Modzelewski, Executive Chairman, NanoBusiness Alliance
Mark is a co-founder of Lux Research, a research and advisory firm focusing on nanotechnology. In 2003, he founded The Benet Group, a private equity firm focused on developing early stage, bio-nanotechnology companies. He's a founder and Executive Chairman of NanoBusiness Alliance, the first nanotechnology trade association. Prior to the formation of the Alliance, Mr. Modzelewski served as Vice President, Business Development for Opion, a surveillance and marketing technology company and Director of Niehaus, Ryan & Wong, New York. He is currently a member of the Nanotechnology Technical Advisory Group to the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, and previously served as a special assistant to Secretary Cisneros (HUD) and Secretary Glickman (USDA) during the Clinton administration.
